PRESIDENT’S LETTER - MARCH 2010

We had a nice, casual class with Pat Egloff this past Saturday. I painted one of the nicest faces I’ve ever done. While the individual attention was a plus in this small class, I’m sorry more of you weren’t able to attend and take advantage of Pat’s store of knowledge about decorative painting and, in particular, her great painted faces. Programs can often be more rewarding than seminars, because the atmosphere is usually more relaxed with one of our own teaching.

We have a paint-in scheduled for April 17, with a potluck lunch planned. Laurel Barbour has sent out a note to membership about it. Please call or email her (gbarbour@sc.rr.com/843-294-1454) to let her know you are coming. There is no charge, but we need to set up enough tables and brew enough coffee for everyone.

We are taking signups for Stefanie Roy’s class, to take place on May 22. The cost is $25, which includes the paint and surface. Again, Laurel is the contact person for this class. It’s a bright and cheerful piece, and Stef runs a great class.

As our service project this year we are planning to hand out blank greeting cards for members to paint over the summer. Designs should be suitable for any occasion. Each member will get 3 cards, and we are asking that you include a stamp on the envelopes when you return them. We will be donating them to an organization who will send them to soldiers in a war zone, so that they may send them to their families. These will be distributed at the May meeting, so even if you can’t attend Stef’s class, please stop by and pick up your greeting cards.

See you all soon.

Clare
